Beta privacy policy — under final legal review. The practices described below are accurate today. A few specifics — our legal entity name, registered postal address, the named list of service providers, and state-specific disclosures — are being finalized with counsel before general availability.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices. It applies to the beta version of Knock (the “Service”) and is incorporated into the Beta Tester Agreement. If you don’t agree with it, please don’t use the Service.

Adults only (18+)

The Service is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

What we collect

  • Account information — your name and email, plus authentication details handled by our authentication provider.
  • Your Content — the resume(s) you upload and the fact sheet you confirm (employers, schools, dates, skills, certifications), questionnaire answers, cover letters, job preferences, and anything else you enter.
  • Usage & device data — log data, device/browser type, IP address, and the features you use, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Browser Extension data (if installed) — job-posting details you choose to import (title, company, description, location, listing URL). The Extension is not designed to collect your passwords or third-party login credentials.

How we use it

Solely to provide the Service: to create and operate your account, to process Your Content through our AI systems to generate drafts, scores, and recommendations for you, and to maintain, secure, and improve the Service. We also send service/transactional messages (security notices, verification, account notifications) — these aren’t marketing.

What we never do with Your Content

  • We never sell Your Content or your personal information, and we never share it for third-party advertising.
  • We never publish your resume or Your Content.
  • Your resume and fact sheet are never used to train any model and are never shared with other users. We may use anonymized, aggregated data (which doesn’t identify you) to operate and improve the Service.

How we share information

Only with service providers that run the Service under contracts limiting their use of the data — cloud hosting, secure file/object storage, the database, authentication, the AI model provider that generates your output, and product analytics/error monitoring. We also share as required by law or legal process, to protect rights and safety, or in a business transfer (subject to this policy).

Third-party platforms

The Service (including the Browser Extension) may interact with job boards and applicant-tracking systems such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Handshake, Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, and Ashby. Knock is not affiliated with these companies. When you use a feature that interacts with one, that platform’s own privacy practices and terms apply to the information it handles.

Storage & security

Files are stored privately and encrypted at rest. Access is scoped so one user can never see another’s data, and we never log the contents of your resume, fact sheet, or credentials. No system is perfectly secure, especially during a beta. Consistent with the New York SHIELD Act and other applicable law, if a breach of your private information occurs we will notify affected users and the appropriate authorities as required.

Retention & deletion

We keep personal information while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can export Your Content or permanently delete your account at any time; deletion cascades to your files, fact sheet, and generated applications. We may keep limited backup or residual copies for a reasonable period for legal, security, and dispute-resolution purposes, and we may keep anonymized data that no longer identifies you.

Your rights & choices

You can review and update much of your information in your account, and request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of Your Content. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws (for example, the California Consumer Privacy Act/CPRA) to know, access, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing, and to be free from discrimination for exercising them.

Where we operate

We’re based in and operate the Service from the United States, and we store and process information in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S.

Changes & contact

If we make material changes we’ll update the “Last updated” date and give notice through the Service or by email. Privacy questions or requests: general@knockcareer.com.
